Hide-and-Seek: A game that children play where they can find the best place to hide so others will never be able to find them. Or maybe you want to be the best seeker that has ever played the game. Either way, there is a time where one person doesn’t know where someone else is. The game continues until everyone is found. The amazing thing about this game is that even if you find the best place to hide, you can never hide from God and his promises for his children.
This week we focused in on the glorious truth that there is no place that you can go where God isn’t. He is omnipresent.
“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.”
-Psalm 139:7-10
He is there when we are happy, sad, doing great things, doing sinful things, lonely, or among a great group of people. He can be there for us when we need someone to talk to because he is everywhere! He is in the highest plains of heaven, to the deepest bottoms of the ocean, and even as far as we can see in outer space….all at the same time!
Because of his power of being everywhere, all at the same time, he also knows everything. According to the children there are twenty million billion thousand blades of grass just in the lawn of the church. We were pretty impressed that they could count all those, and keep track of how many they had already counted. We are able to believe through faith, and the Word of the Lord, that God is omniscient and knows everything there is to know about….well….everything. He knows the exact number of stars in the sky (Psalm 147:4), hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30), and many other countless things. When you think about the great power of our Lord it is easy to rest in the promise of his goodness and mercy towards those that call his son Savior. It brings comfort to know that he holds the future in the palm of his hand because he is everywhere, past/present/future.
Thank you for your continued prayers as we embark on this journey of theology with the children. At times it is challenging, but we are assured that his word will not return void. The minds of the little ones are always changing. Our prayer is that as they change and grow they will continually build upon the rock that is the gospel and truth written out in the Word. In your devotional time please read Psalm 139 and have some discussion over it. Maybe even ask them some “big” theological words, such as omniscient and omnipresent. We think you will be pleased at what they have to say….

The last few weeks have been extraordinary when it comes to what God is showing the children, as well as the adults, through the preparation and class time. First, we would like to thank all of you that have prayed for the team and the ministry it provides for the younger generation. We, as a team, understand that it is only through God’s grace, mercy, and power that we can even know the smallest bit about him!
The last few lessons have brought to light the almighty power of God. We have talked about the triune nature of God (The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), his creation of everything out of nothing, and that he is in control of everything! If you get the opportunity, as your children what the word ‘ex nihilo’ means….I’m sure you are going to be surprised how much Latin your children know.
It is amazing that when we spoke to the children of the triune nature of God they seemed to believe it without hesitation. When asked why they believed it they simply said, “Because it is in the Bible and God said it was true.” In Mark 10:14-15 Jesus said “Let the children come to me, do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Our prayer is that we all, as the body of Christ, come to him with this same childlike faith and obedience. As we grow older we are inundated with so many things that are worldly and can easily skew our image of Christ, but it is through his Word living in us that we can rise above what the world has to offer and focus in on the glory that God has promised those who believe.
We have to only look around in the world we live and understand that without his powerful voice, none of this would be. We can look at a sunrise, a rain/snow shower, a rainbow, a sunset, and all of the stars in the sky, and know of his great love for us. Every minute of every day the world is constantly praising the name of the creator, the sustainer, and the controller of all things. We pray that each one of us, young and old alike, would do the same!

Last Sunday was our first official week in our “The Ology” lessons: God’s name and He is eternal. Wow! What an awesome place to start. Of course we started off with a lot of “I don’t understand” and “but how?” (Likewise as the teachers prepared for the lessons) We focused on the fact that names have meaning and the Bible uses many names to describe God. We can learn a lot about who He is by exploring the different names He goes by. Our discussions then shifted to God being everlasting. He has no beginning, no middle, and no end! We contrasted this with the things we see around us. Look at the acorn. God created that tiny thing to become a huge oak tree! An apple seed has the ability to become an apple tree and produce more apples. We were born as babies and are growing and changing everyday, but Our God is not like that at all. He didn’t have to grow up so that He could lay the foundations of the world, nor does He grow old. Therefore, we never have to worry about Him not sustaining His creation. We wanted to leap for joy as we were explaining and also realizing this glorious truth! This is why we can put our full trust in Him. He is eternal, and He NEVER changes. He is the constant we can depend on.

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God!” -Psalm 90:2

We are looking forward to next week with excitement and anticipation as to what God has in store.

Diamond Hill Baptist Church fully believes in the power of Jesus and his Word. We believe that at any age the truths that are within the Bible are vital to building a solid Biblical foundation on which we can stand when our beliefs are tested in a world that is seemingly moving further and further away from God.

With that in mind, we want to provide an opportunity for children, from the ages of 3 years to 5th grade, to learn theology so they will have a strong anchor that keeps them unwavering and unshaken from the truth of Jesus Christ. We understand the Children’s Ministry is not something that would take the place of household discipling, but rather it would serve as a complimentary tool that would help engage their minds with theological words, phrases, questions, and activities. Through this engagement our prayer is that they will be more inquisitive of who Jesus is and how absolutely necessary he is to their lives as they continue to grow.

Our current study is based on “The Ology” by Marty Machowski, illustrated by Andy McGuire. In the study we will cover topics such as The Ology of: God, People, Sin, the Promise and the Law, Christ, the Holy Spirit, Adoption into God’s Family, Change, the Church, the End Times, God’s Word.

Our most sincere prayer is that through the study Jesus would reveal himself to everyone, whether it be the children, teachers, or parents. He is great and worthy to be praised! Please join us on this journey Sunday Nights from 5:30pm – 6:30pm beginning February 19, 2017.

In his service and by his grace,
